Frequently asked
Most food and beverage categories require registration or notification with ANVISA (health surveillance agency) or MAPA (ministry of agriculture) before entering the Brazilian market. The pathway depends on your product category — we assess it and conduct the entire process locally, in Portuguese.
Brazilian labels must be in Portuguese and follow local rules for ingredient lists, nutrition tables and front-of-pack warnings — which differ substantially from EU and US formats. A compliant label is built from the formulation up, not translated.
Not necessarily. Brazil maintains its own positive lists of additives and usage limits. An ingredient approved in the EU may be restricted here. A regulatory viability study answers this question before you invest in shipping and registration.
It varies by category and registration pathway — from a few weeks for exempt categories to several months for registered products. A viability study gives you a realistic timeline for your specific product.
